Cricket is spreading its wings in a football-dominated Northeast India. And Assam’s Guwahati is leading the way.
The city is home to the Barsapara Cricket Stadium. It is the biggest cricket stadium in the Northeast region, with a seating capacity of 40,000.
The venue, equipped with modern architecture, has hosted a few men’s and women’s white ball international matches. While Guwahati is yet to host a Test match, it has staged Ranji Trophy matches. Interestingly, Guwahati also serves as the second home venue for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.

The match is expected to be a historic moment for Assam cricket, marking the venue’s arrival as a complete international stadium capable of hosting all three formats of the game.
