Salman Ali Agha added a major milestone to his early captaincy career by leading Pakistan to victory in the 2025 Pakistan T20I Tri-Series. Under his calm leadership, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in the final to lift their first multi-nation T20 trophy of the year. This triumph further strengthens Agha’s growing reputation as an emerging leader in Pakistan cricket.
Agha’s status from interim to permanent captain changed in a matter of a few months. As Pakistan removed Mohammad Rizwan from the leadership, Agha took over the mantle.
Agha’s captaincy debut didn’t go well, as he couldn’t avert a T20I series whitewash against Australia. But he bounced back with series victories against Zimbabwe (away), Bangladesh (home), and the West Indies (away).
In the meantime, Pakistan suffered defeats in New Zealand and Bangladesh to give Agha a reality check. While he has a long way to go, only time will tell how his stint pans out.
