The Perth Stadium first hosted a Big Bash League (BBL) in February 2018. And the venue had a grand debut as Hobart Hurricanes ran riot, scoring 210 runs for four wickets against Perth Scorchers in the semi-final.
After the grand opening, the Scorchers shifted their home base to this modern facility ahead of the 2018/19 season. Since then, the venue, also known as the Optus Stadium, has been regularly hosting the BBL matches.
