Wolvaardt made her Test captaincy debut early in 2024. In her first match, South Africa suffered a massive loss against Australia by an innings and 284 runs.

In June the same year, a 10-wicket drubbing at the hands of India followed. And the Proteas women closed the year with another huge defeat against England.

While Wolvaardt has done well on the personal front, South Africa have yet to taste success under her leadership in Tests.
