The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is an iconic sports venue in Australia. Many teams, across sports disciplines, play in front of the one lakh-seater crowd.
Cricket is something that generally takes place in the summers at the MCG. Although the Boxing Day Test played here is quite famous, the venue also hosts the Big Bash League (BBL).
The Melbourne Stars call MCG their home in the BBL. And they have been playing here since December 2011.
That said, here’s a look at the Melbourne Cricket Ground’s record in the BBL.

The MCG has been a batters’ den in the BBL, although pacers too get some help. The fact that seven batters have scored centuries here in the BBL makes it clear how helpful the conditions are.
Despite that, 200-plus scores aren’t regular at the MCG. Teams generally score around 170-180 runs, with anything above 180 being defendable.
As the pitch gets better to bat on, teams prefer to chase targets. However, batting first has turned out to be advantageous if teams put up 180-plus totals.
