After a bit of a delay, the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will return in 2025. The LPL usually takes place in July-August. But this year, the league has moved towards the end of the year.
The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board chalked up the schedule of this season, keeping in mind the 2026 T20 World Cup. So the LPL 2025 will begin on November 27.
As many as five teams will feature in the league, with Dambulla Sixers, Galle Marvels, and Kandy Falcons continuing from the last season. The other two franchises based in Colombo and Jaffna will likely have new owners.
As usual, the LPL 2025 will have a double round robin stage in place. So each team will face the other four opponents twice.
Then the playoffs will kick off in the third week of December 2025. The final will take place on December 23, 2025.
