Warner led Australia for the first time in 2016. He filled in for Steven Smith, who returned home halfway through Sri Lanka’s tour.
Warner made the most of the opportunity, winning the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka. Then he led Australia in a few more T20Is, returning with considerable success.

Warner led two teams in the IPL. But his most memorable stint came with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Warner took the reins of SRH in 2015. And the very next season, he guided them to their maiden IPL triumph.
SRH qualified for two more playoffs under Warner’s captaincy in 2017 and 2020. But his relationship with SRH ended on a bad note after the 2021 season.
In 2022, Warner moved to Delhi Capitals (DC), whom he had led in two matches back in 2013. He got another opportunity to lead DC in 2023, though he couldn’t change their fortunes.
