The rivalry between India and England dates back to the pre-independence era. Both sides met for the first time back in 1932. England hosted India in a one-off Test at the iconic Lord’s.
Since then, the two teams have faced each other several times across formats. While England kept the upper hand in the 20th century, India have fought their way back since the 2000s.
Both teams have largely dominated at home, especially in Test cricket. The gap, though, has narrowed in limited-overs cricket.
While the bilateral series between India and England carry significant weight, their ICC tournament encounters spice up the contest to the next level. Take, for instance, the heated exchange between Yuvraj Singh and Andrew Flintoff, which resulted in Yuvraj smoking six sixes in an over!
Such dramatic rundowns definitely make the India versus England matchup one to look for. And as both sides evolve, this rivalry promises to deliver some intense contests.
Here you can look at the head-to-head timeline between India and England, including records and highlights.
