Sciver-Brunt first captained England in March 2021. She stood in for injured Heather Knight in the third T20I against New Zealand. Sciver-Brunt got off to a good start, securing a series sweep over New Zealand.
In 2022, she was back as captain in the absence of Knight. This time, she oversaw England’s run till the bronze medal match in the Commonwealth Games.
Cut to 2025, Sciver-Brunt took over the reins in a full-time capacity across all formats.

Sciver-Brunt has had a good start to her captaincy stint in ODIs. She guided England to a series sweep over the West Indies in June 2025. But the next month, India beat England at home by 2-1, marking the first major series defeat under Sciver-Brunt’s tenure.

Sciver-Brunt has had a fine run in T20Is thus far. She is just the third England women’s skipper to win more than 10 T20I matches.
In her interim capacity, Sciver-Brunt played a part in England’s series win over New Zealand in 2021. The next year, she filled in for Heather Knight in the Commonwealth Games, almost clinching the bronze medal in front of the home crowd.
And since her full-time appointment, England beat the West Indies, though they lost against India.

Sciver-Brunt has a rich experience of captaining teams in domestic T20 tournaments. Her first run came with the Surrey Stars in the Women’s Super League between 2016 and 2019. In four seasons, she took the Stars to the knockouts twice, while winning the tournament in 2018.
Sciver-Brunt was also at the helm of Trent Rockets in The Hundred Women’s competition between 2021 and 2024. She delivered mixed results, with only one knockout appearance in 2022.
In the Women’s Premier League (WPL), she stood in as interim skipper for Mumbai Indians in two games, winning one in 2024.
