Mitchell Marsh has been playing for Australia for more than a decade now. He has displayed his all-round skills on many occasions in the yellow jersey.
And now he is showing his top-notch captaincy skills. Marsh has been at the helm of Australia’s T20I squad since 2023. And he has had short stints in ODIs and BBL.
So, how has Marsh fared as captain across all formats?
Here’s a look at Mitchell Marsh’s captaincy record in all formats.

It was in 2023 when Marsh first captained Australia in international cricket. After Aaron Finch retired in 2022, Australia were on the lookout for a new T20I captain.
And that’s how Marsh came into the frame. Initially, it was a temporary arrangement. But they locked him as the permanent T20I skipper in early 2024.
Thus far, the all-rounder has led Australia in 35 matches across T20Is and ODIs. And the team has won in 26 games, with just nine losses.

Before his captaincy adventure at the international level, Marsh had a go at it in the BBL. But it didn’t pan out well.
Perth Scorchers entrusted Marsh with the responsibility in the 2018/19 season. But the Scorchers didn’t win a single game of the six Marsh captained in.
The next season, he led the Scorchers in all 14 games. And he returned with only six wins. As a result, the Scorchers failed to make the knockouts. Following that, Marsh gave up captaincy in the BBL.
Mitchell Marsh has had an impressive start to his captaincy journey, particularly in the T20I format, where he boasts one of the highest win percentages among Australian captains. While his ODI and BBL stints have been mixed, his leadership shows maturity, and he could remain a key leader for Australia in white-ball cricket going forward.
