Bangladesh cricket is entering a new phase with former captain Tamim Iqbal now leading the cricket board. After the National Sports Council removed the previous board due to administrative issues, Tamim was given the responsibility to guide the sport forward.
As part of this new beginning, Bangladesh has announced its squad for the upcoming white-ball series against New Zealand.
Bangladesh Start Fresh With a Stable Squad
The Bangladesh team management has decided to keep the squad mostly unchanged from the group that recently defeated Pakistan in a home ODI series.
This decision shows that the selectors want to maintain consistency and build momentum instead of experimenting with many new players.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz will captain the team for the upcoming series. The bowling attack remains the same with key pacers Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, and Nahid Rana all retained.
Batters such as Saif Hassan and Afif Hossain will be looking to perform better after their recent outings.
A few players, including Rishad Hossain and Tanzid Hasan, are currently playing in PSL 2026. They will join the Bangladesh squad shortly before the series begins.
For now, the selectors have only announced the ODI squad, while the T20I squad was named separately later.

Bangladesh will try to continue their winning momentum after the Pakistan series. The selectors have shown confidence in the same core group of players and want them to build consistency.
With matches scheduled in Dhaka and Chattogram, the team will rely on familiar conditions to challenge New Zealand.
The series will also be an important test for Bangladesh’s new administrative leadership under Tamim Iqbal and the team’s long-term direction.
