Jess Jonassen is a top-class all-rounder from Australia. She bowls left-arm spin and bats lower down the order.
While Jonassen’s all-round performances have been valuable, she has also proved her worth as a leader. The Queensland-born all-rounder has had extensive captaincy experience in domestic cricket and the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). She leads Queensland in the domestic circuit and captains Brisbane Heat in the WBBL.
Here you can look at Jess Jonassen’s captaincy record in the WBBL.
Jess Jonassen Captaincy Record in WBBL
| Team | Matches | Won | Lost | Tied | No Result | Win% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brisbane Heat | 80 | 45 | 33 | 0 | 2 | 56.25 |
Jonassen has been leading Brisbane Heat in the WBBL since 2020. And she has had a satisfactory outing with them.
Although Jonassen led them for the first time in 2015, it was in the 2020 edition that she took over the full-time responsibility. While she couldn’t defend the Heat’s title in 2020, the team reached the knockouts in each season between 2020 and 2024.

Jonassen even led the Heat to back-to-back finals in the 2023 and 2024 editions, though she fell short of lifting the title on both occasions. The 2025 season, though, hasn’t quite gone Jonassen’s way, with the Heat out of the knockout contention.
While Jonassen hasn’t yet won the WBBL title, she is the most successful captain for the Heat in the league.
