Deepti’s first major captaincy stint came in the 2022 Women’s T20 Challenge. She led Velocity to the final of the short tournament, although they lost against Supernovas.
Cut to 2025, Deepti took the reins of UP Warriorz in the WPL. She replaced an injured Alyssa Healy in the role.
Deepti’s inexperience as a leader played a part in UP finishing at the bottom of the points table. She managed to lead them to three wins out of eight matches.
Overall, Deepti’s captaincy stint in T20 cricket has been below average, though she will look to improve it.
