After a gritty draw. India will face England in the fifth Test at the Kennington Oval. The five-match series is still on the line, with India aiming for a draw.

A win here will help the Indian team to stop England from running away with the series. So the team needs to put everything on the line.

But India’s record at the Kennington Oval isn’t noteworthy. They have had some hiccups in Tests played at this venue.

This article will give an overview of India’s Test record at the Kennington Oval, London.

It was back in 1936 when India first contested a Test at The Oval. Their first outing, though, ended in a loss.

India travelled to the ground three times between 1946 and 1959. Two of those Tests ended in draws, in 1946 and 1952, while the last one ended in a loss.

India then returned to the venue in 1971. And this time they fetched their first Test victory at The Oval.

The Men in Blue’s other Test win here came in 2021. They defeated the hosts by 157 runs.

In between, India recorded some highs and lows on this ground. They put up their highest total here in 2007. Thanks to a collective effort, India posted 664 on the board.

Seven years later, though, India collapsed to their lowest score at The Oval. The hosts wrapped them up for 94 in the second innings after being all out for 148 in the first essay.

India put a stop to the winless streak in 2021 with a thumping victory over the hosts. In 2023, India suffered a heart-break as they lost the WTC final to Australia.
