Young Indian cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has reached an important milestone in his career. The Bihar-born player turned 15 on March 27, which now makes him eligible to be considered for selection in the Senior Indian national team.
Vaibhav is already regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in Indian cricket. His performances in youth tournaments and early appearances in professional cricket have brought him into the spotlight.
Eligibility Opens the Door for India Call-Up
With his 15th birthday, Vaibhav now meets the age requirement to be considered for India’s senior team.
He first gained major attention during the Under-19 World Cup, where he played a remarkable innings of 175 in the final. That knock became one of the standout performances in youth international cricket.
Since then, Vaibhav has continued to progress through higher levels of cricket.
He joined the Rajasthan Royals setup and later grabbed headlines after scoring a century in the IPL that included 15 sixes. His attacking batting style quickly made him one of the most talked-about young players in the league.
Vaibhav also represented India in the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup, further strengthening his reputation as a promising future star.
Possibility of Playing Alongside Virat Kohli
With the new IPL season approaching, Vaibhav’s performances will be closely watched.
If he continues to perform well in the tournament, selectors could start considering him for India’s T20I team in the future. That could eventually see him sharing the dressing room with senior players such as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Many cricket observers believe Vaibhav could develop into a strong opening option for India in T20 cricket because of his fearless approach and power hitting.
‘Baby Hulk’ Nickname From Jitesh Sharma
Vaibhav earned a fun nickname during the ACC Emerging Asia Cup.
India A captain Jitesh Sharma, who played alongside him in the tournament in Qatar, praised the youngster’s natural strength and powerful batting.
Jitesh described Vaibhav as a naturally strong hitter with exceptional wrist strength. He jokingly called him “Chhota Hulk” or “Baby Hulk”.
According to Jitesh, Vaibhav’s strength even surprised teammates. He shared a moment when Vaibhav tried wearing his watch but it felt tight because of the youngster’s strong wrists.
Jitesh also said Vaibhav creates fear in bowlers because of his aggressive batting style. He compared the young left-hander to Nicholas Pooran, noting that bowlers often feel pressure when facing such powerful hitters.

What the Future Could Hold
Vaibhav has already shown signs that he can handle bigger stages in cricket.
Last season he played seven matches and impressed many with his attacking approach. Expectations are higher this year as he may get more opportunities to play and develop his white-ball skills.
If his performances remain strong, he could soon become part of India’s long-term plans in limited-overs cricket.
For now, the focus will remain on the IPL season, where Vaibhav will look to continue his rise and prove that he belongs among the next generation of Indian cricket stars.
